Tablet Flash Marketing Analytics: Animating Corporate Reports
RIM PlayBook Tablet flash presentation functionality makes it possible to animate charts, graphs and annual corporate reports. Canadian investor relations departments must use RIM’s PlayBook Tablet computer for delivering animated annual reports. About 40 per cent of Chief Information Officers (CIOs) at medium-sized businesses planned to increase Tablet usage within their companies over the next two years. This was the finding of a Robert Half Technology survey of 300 medium-sized company CIOs that was reported in the February 24, 2011 TechVibes blog post The Mobile Enterprise Revolution: 40% of Canadian companies plan to increase use of tablets soon. Since Apple’s iPad does not support flash, RIM’s PlayBook is optimized to deliver animated, Tablet corporate reports to investors, employees and the media.
Tablet ownership in Canada is expected to continue increasing. Tablet PC computer ownership in Canada market share estimates indicates the number of Anglophone and Francophone Tablet owners in Canada will approach 2,105,030 by 2031. Corporate communications departments must animate graphs and charts and deliver annual reports on the RIM PlayBook Tablet PC platform. The delivery of ‘living’ content is consistent with the Livestand from Yahoo! personalized, living magazine for the Apple iPad. Below is an explanation of how to create flash-animated charts and graphs that may be included in living, RIM PlayBook Tablet-delivered reports.
Flash-based charts and graphs may be created in Microsoft Excel or a higher-end reporting software from SAP BusinessObjects. Once created, Adobe CreativeSuite or Adobe Captivate may be used to apply animation and narratives to each chart or graph. Let’s say there are two graphs that have been created: the first presents the number of units sold in a particular month, and the second compares the number of units sold in each month to a particular target. Animating this graph requires that it be broken into several ‘frames’, each frame displaying X and Y-axis labels, scales and one of the six monthly result bars. The six frames may be imported into Adobe and edited to appear and disappear one after another at varying time intervals. The animated graph may be saved as a flash (.swf) object and included in an animated, RIM PlayBook Tablet-delivered corporate report.

[...] Tablets (Apple iPad, RIM PlayBook, Samsung Galaxy) have traditionally been used as entertainment mobile devices: to consume videos, read articles and browse images. Tablet PC computer ownership in Canada market share estimates indicate that the number of Anglophone and Francophone Tablet owners in Canada will approach 2,105,030 by 2031. This may be one rationale for Yahoo! introducing Livestand from Yahoo!: a personalized, digital Tablet magazine iPad app. However, evidence suggests that Tablet computers may become an office productivity tool, as well. Perhaps Tablet PCs will also be used to view and report quarterly and annual corporate performance, as has been written in the following article: Tablet Flash Marketing Analytics: Animating Corporate Reports.
